In accordance with the Town’s bench project, the memorial benches in Fountain Park are scheduled for replacement. The donors of the original benches will be contacted to see if they would like to rededicate their bench to continue to honor a loved one. The cost to rededicate and replace the bench is $1,800.00. The original donors will have until June 28, 2018 to rededicate their bench. If the original donor chooses not to rededicate their bench it will become available to the public for a new dedication. The bench pricing would still be $1,800.00 and a new dedication plaque would be $200.00.
The current benches will be replaced over the next few months with eco- slatted benches. These benches were chosen for their durability and have the ability to have individual slats replaced if damage occurs. The lifespan of a bench is estimated at 10 years and the Town does not guarantee the longevity of the benches. When the lifespan of the bench has been reached and requires replacement, the donor will have the opportunity to fund a new bench at the current replacement cost.
