Majority of Golden Eagle Park Reopens Following Major Drainage Improvements

Town of Fountain Hills News Posted on August 28, 2025

Parkgoers can once again enjoy the majority of Golden Eagle Park as the large-scale drainage improvement project is now substantially complete.

Since last November, crews from B4 Enterprises have worked throughout the park to substantially improve its stormwater management capability. The park has faced challenges due to its original design and was severely damaged by large flooding events in both 2018 and 2019.

“Golden Eagle Park is one of our community’s most beloved recreational spaces and helping protect it from future storm damage was a top priority,” said Public Works Director Justin Weldy. “These upgrades not only safeguard the park but also create a better experience for residents and visitors for years to come.”

To reduce future flooding risks, crews widened and deepened the channels of Cloudburst, Bristol, and Ashbrook Washes, allowing them to accommodate greater volumes of stormwater. A new sediment drop basin was also constructed to slow high-water flows and naturally replenish the underground aquifer.

Additional improvements include the installation of flood walls where appropriate, the replacement of 5-foot sidewalks with 8-foot multi-use fitness paths, and the construction of a new pedestrian bridge over Bristol Wash, which provides ADA accessibility and creates a smoother connection between the ballfields.

Some additional work will take place in the coming weeks near the dam, with limited pedestrian restrictions in place. Future landscaping will occur during FY26.  The Town appreciates your patience during this project.
