Earlier today, December 14, 2017, the matter between the Town of Fountain Hills and the developer of the mixed use Park Place development in downtown has been resolved. A representative from N-Shea paid $299,230 in outstanding park development fees to the Town of Fountain Hills. This followed N-Shea paying $103,626.55 on October 5 of the total outstanding fire development fees and permit fees. A combined $402,856.55 has been paid by the developer which now satisfies ALL of the outstanding fees previously owed to the town.
Shortly after town staff realized that building permits had been issued for the Park Place development without standard payment of the development fees, the Town notified the company in an effort to collect the fees. From the beginning N-Shea had interpreted that the fees were not required as they were not specifically noted in the development agreement. The Town had a different interpretation. As a result, the company and town officials spent numerous hours trying to resolve the matter.
Now that all outstanding development fees have been paid, both parties are excited about working together on phase I of Park Place, and later Phases II and III, which will complete the downtown.
