Fountain Hills is an International Dark Sky Community, but this doesn't prevent the community from celebrating the season with holiday lights. In December, the downtown area along the Avenue of the Fountains is lighted in thousands of lights. The annual Stroll in the Glow attracts residents and visitors from around the region to see the display. Part of the tradition is lighting the famous fountain in red and green each night through December. The fountain is the fourth tallest in the world at a height of 560 feet when running on all three of the 660 hp pumps.
