[ARCHIVED] Join Us for International Observe the Moon Night in Fountain Hills

TOWN LOGO - NEWS FLASH

On September 14, 2024, from 7:30 to 9:00 PM, Centennial Circle will be the gathering spot for stargazers and lunar enthusiasts alike as Fountain Hills hosts International Observe the Moon Night. Centennial Circle is located at 13001 N. La Montana Dr. in Fountain Hills. This special event, sponsored by NASA, invites the public to observe, appreciate, and learn about our Moon's connection to space science, exploration, and human culture.

Event Highlights Include:

  • Telescope Viewing: Experience the Moon up close with expert guidance from the Night Sky Tourist Star Dudes, who will provide telescopes and share their astronomical knowledge.
  • Lunar Talk: Enjoy an insightful talk by Ted Blank, a NASA Solar System Ambassador, who will share fascinating facts and stories about the Moon's significance in our solar system.
  • Hands-On Activities for All Ages: Participate in a variety of engaging, family-friendly activities provided by the FH Dark Sky Association, Night Sky Tourist, Fountain Hills Library, the International Dark Sky Discovery Center, Experience Fountain Hills, and Adero Scottsdale Resort.

This event is free and open to all ages. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair for a comfortable experience while listening to the lunar talk and enjoying the night's activities.

About International Observe the Moon Night

International Observe the Moon Night is an annual event sponsored by NASA and other partners. It aims to foster interest in lunar science and exploration, promote a sense of shared global observation, and inspire exploration of our natural satellite.

About Fountain Hills

Founded in 1970 and incorporated in 1989, today more than 24,000 people call the Town of Fountain Hills home. The Town is located in the northeast portion of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area and is bordered by the McDowell Mountain Regional Park within Maricopa County. the rare distinction of being designated an International Dark Sky Community by the International Dark Sky Association (IDA).
