The Town of Fountain Hills Town Council selected Rachael Goodwin as the new Town Manager at the Town Council meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 3. Goodwin was appointed the Interim Town Manager following the retirement of Grady Miller on Apr. 1, 2023.
“I am extremely happy with the selection of Rachael as our next Town Manager. She has succeeded in every role over the years and did a fantastic job during a challenging interim period. Impressive and thoughtful, hardworking, organized and professional, the community and our staff have a strong leader to keep moving Fountain Hills forward in the years to come,” said Fountain Hills Mayor Ginny Dickey.
Goodwin has been a part of the Town staff for more than nine years and has served in municipal government for almost 20. She started her career with the Town of Fountain Hills as the Recreation and Events Manager and, in 2017, took over the role of the Community Services Director. In July 2022, she was named one of two Deputy Town Managers to help represent the town on regional and statewide platforms.
“I am honored to serve as the next Town Manager for Fountain Hills,” said Goodwin. “Town Managers have the privilege of working closely with elected leaders and community partners to shape the future of our community. I’m looking forward to joining with our Town Council and helping Fountain Hills continue to flourish and thrive.”
In 2021, as Director of the Community Services Department, Goodwin and her team were recognized as the 2021 Gold Medal Grand Plaque Award honoree for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration (AAPRA), in partnership with the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA).
Goodwin received her bachelor’s from NAU and her master’s in public administration from ASU.
