Sidewalk Infill Project

As part of the Active Transportation Plan, with input by residents and adopted by Town Council in 2021, one of the Town's visions is for "Pedestrian Facilities: Improved/connected sidewalks (closing gaps), links to existing shared use paths, and accessible facilities." (See Active Transportation Plan)

As part of the FY25 Capital Improvement Projects budget, $300k was budgeted for Sidewalk Infill and Design at various locations throughout Town. This program provides $100k for design and $200k for construction annually for ADA-compliant concrete sidewalk and curb ramps where gaps currently exist. Wrapping up the Town’s efforts to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility this fiscal year, a new sidewalk will be constructed along the full length of the Bashas’ shopping center’s frontage on La Montana Dr., connecting critical sidewalk infrastructure. The extent of these improvements include:

  • Improving sidewalks and driveways within project limits
  • Constructing curbs and gutters to improve drainage
  • Adjusting utilities as needed
  • Restoring landscaping
  • Replacing signs and road striping

WHAT TO EXPECT

Construction is expected to begin Tuesday, May 27, 2025 and take approximately two months to complete. Work will take place weekdays between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. and will include lane restrictions.

The Town of Fountain Hills will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures to email subscribers, the project web page, social media and the Fountain Hills Times.
