Fountain Hills Fire Department Transitions to New Command Structure

Town of Fountain Hills News Posted on January 12, 2026

The Town of Fountain Hills Fire Department has officially transitioned to a new command structure, marking a significant milestone in the Town’s ongoing commitment to public safety and operational excellence.

As part of this transition, three fire personnel have been formally designated as Battalion Chiefs, which are vital leadership positions that oversee daily operations at both fire stations and provide on-scene command during complex emergency incidents. This change aligns the Fire Department more closely with industry best practices and strengthens its ability to respond efficiently and effectively to emergencies of all types.

“These Battalion Chief positions are essential to the modern fire service,” said Fire Chief Dave Ott. “They provide critical oversight, coordination, and leadership, ensuring our crews have the support they need and our community receives the highest level of service.”

Battalion Chiefs Mike Grieco, Brad Linden and Bryan Golden were selected for these roles due to their exceptional qualifications and leadership abilities. The new command structure also plays a key role in supporting the Town’s application for Automatic Aid, a regional agreement that allows neighboring fire departments to automatically assist one another when they are the closest and most appropriate resource to an incident, regardless of jurisdictional boundaries.

Funding for the Battalion Chief positions and new command structure was approved by the Town Council in  2025.
