The Town of Fountain Hills has seen rapid population growth over the last four decades from just short of 3,000 residents in 1980 to over 23,000 in 2020. Large population growth before the new millennium has slowed in the past decade, ensuring Fountain Hills retains its small town charm. Since 2010, the Town has averaged about 1.3% annual growth. Maricopa County remains the fastest growing county in the US with over 660,000 new residents moving to the region since 2010.

The latter is 17 percentage points higher than Maricopa County and 20 percentage points more than the state as a whole. Only 3.2% of the population lacks a high school degree.
